Campus (Altes AKH) and Old Chapel (Alte Kapelle)

The spacious, green Campus of the University of Vienna (“Altes AKH”, the former general hospital) houses university facilities as well as cafés and restaurants in several courtyards. Located close to the main building of the University of Vienna and the historic city center, it is well connected to the public transport network. Address: Spitalgasse 2, 1090 Vienna

At the heart of the Campus, in courtyard 1 (“Hof 1”), is the Old Chapel (“Alte Kapelle”), a historic site now used as an event venue, with windows overlooking the green courtyards of the Campus. It is located on the upper floor and accessed via a staircase.

Public transport in Vienna

Vienna is a very walkable city with an extensive public transport network. Tickets for public transport are available online or from ticket machines at stations.

How to get to the venue from Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof):

Take tram line D to the station “Schottentor”. From there, walk 10 minutes or take tram line 43 or 44 for two stops.
Take subway/underground line U1 to the station “Karlsplatz” and then line U2 to “Schottentor”. From there, walk 10 minutes or take tram line 43 or 44 for two stops.

How to get to the venue from Vienna Airport:

Take the suburban train S7 or the City Airport Train to “Wien Mitte” and then tram line 1 to “Schottentor”. From there, walk 10 minutes or take tram line 43 or 44 for two stops.
Take the Vienna Airport Bus to “Wien Morzinplatz” and then tram line 1 to “Schottentor”. From there, walk 10 minutes or take tram line 43 or 44 for two stops.

Sustainability guidelines

The Guideline for Events at the University of Vienna promotes resource conservation, climate-friendliness and social responsibility. It encourages travel by public transport and other sustainable means of transport. Catering is offered meat-free as a rule, with seasonal and regionally sourced meals prioritized.
